“Race for Their Lives” On July 18 Will Raise Funds To Save Stray and Shelter Dogs

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (June 16, 2020) — BarkVille Dog Rescue has announced that their annual 5K “Race for Their Lives” will be held on July 18, 2020. This event raises funds to save stray and shelter dogs in the Metro Atlanta area.

Race for Their Lives, which is sponsored by Big Peach Running, will begin at 8:00 a.m. at Fowler Park, located at 4110 Carolene Way in Cumming, Ga. Runners will start on the track at Fowler Park and continue onto the beautiful Big Creek Greenway.

“This race is such an important part of our work to save stray and shelter dogs in the Atlanta area,” Karen Jones, executive director of BarkVille Dog Rescue, said. “We hope the community will once again come out to support the work our volunteers do for these wonderful dogs.”

Race for Their Lives will award prizes to winners in multiple categories, including overall male/female and age groups 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and up. First place winners will receive a watercolor painting of a BarkVille rescue dog painted by local artist Seth Jones.

Runners can register ahead of time and pick up their race packets one week before the race from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at Big Peach Running, located at 5530 Windward Parkway, Suite 420, in Alpharetta. Alternatively, runners can pick up their packet on race day beginning at 6:00 a.m.

To participate in Race for Their Lives, runners will be asked to donate $25.00 if they register before race day and $30.00 if they register on race day. All participants who register ahead of time will receive a free t-shirt, while those who register on race day will receive t-shirts as supplies last.

Well behaved dogs are welcome to attend. Race sponsors will provide water bowls, Oops bags, and treats for dogs to enjoy.

About BarkVille Dog Rescue

BarkVille Dog Rescue is a nonprofit organization serving Metro Atlanta dedicated to creating a compassionate world where all dogs have a responsible, loving home. Our staff of volunteers works to spay or neuter, vaccinate, and microchip every dog in our care, as well as provide them with any needed veterinary care or treatment. Our dogs are then placed in nurturing, loving foster homes while they await adoption and placement into their forever homes. Barkville Dog Rescue is dedicated to the welfare of our dogs far beyond the adoption process.
